Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Crop Production Manager to join our team at Willoway Nurseries. As a key member of our horticultural team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our crop production section, ensuring the highest quality crops are produced while meeting sales deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Irrigation Cycles: Oversee the management of irrigation cycles and pumphouses in your section to ensure optimal crop growth.
  • Plant Nutrient Management: Manage all plant nutrient needs for crops in your section, including dry fertilizer, fertigation, and acids.
  • Environmental Controls: Manage all environmental controls (heating/venting) to provide crops with optimal conditions to meet sales deadlines.
  • Quality Control: Ensure crops meet deadlines and quality standards.
  • Pest Management: Identify pest pressure and collaborate with the Plant Healthcare Team to decide on actions.
  • Maintenance: Maintain the physical structures of the growing area through direct action and collaboration with the Physical Plant.
  • Irrigation System Maintenance: Maintain the irrigation system within your section.
  • Crop History Documentation: Document crop history and actions.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, train, and manage a small team of section growing staff.
Requirements
  • Experience: 3-5 years' experience/training in a horticultural or agricultural field.
  • Knowledge: Plant/horticultural knowledge, knowledge of irrigation systems and pumphouses.
  • Abilities: Strong interpersonal skills, ability to multi-function, strong organizational and time management skills, detail oriented, team leadership and training.
Work Environment

Work outdoors 85-95% of the time, prepared to work in all safe weather conditions caring for the plants.

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 7am-4:30pm, with weekends on a rotational basis as needed, 40-50 hours in Spring.
