Role Overview:

The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for delivering diagnostic and therapeutic services aimed at evaluating and treating residents with communication and swallowing impairments due to various health conditions. This role involves collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and the Director of Nursing Services to enhance care protocols.

Key Responsibilities:


• Assess residents' functional communication and swallowing needs as referred by healthcare providers.


• Implement treatment plans following medical directives and facility protocols, ensuring accurate documentation of care.


• Collaborate with nursing leadership to develop policies aimed at preventing communication and swallowing difficulties.


• Engage in discharge planning as necessary.


• Conduct diagnostic evaluations and maintain compliance with facility policies.


• Deliver tailored treatment to support residents in achieving optimal communication and swallowing capabilities.


• Educate residents and caregivers on maintaining communication and swallowing functions.


• Ensure timely and precise reporting in accordance with regulatory standards.


• Adhere to infection control protocols and prioritize resident safety.


• Complete required assessments and documentation in a timely manner.


• Participate in interdisciplinary care meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.


• Uphold all facility policies and safety regulations.


• Respect residents' rights and maintain confidentiality.
