Senior Mechanical Engineer for HVAC Projects

Harrison Consulting Solutions, a leading engineering firm, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join their team in Jacksonville, Florida.
About the Role- This position involves designing and developing mechanical systems for various projects, including healthcare, commercial, public sector, industrial, education, and institutional facilities.
We are looking for an engineer with a strong background in HVAC design, who can perform complex calculations, develop detailed specifications, and work closely with vendors and contractors.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement heating and cooling load calculations using software like Trace or HAP.
- Create detailed sections and elevations of complex ductwork and piping areas.
- Determine equipment room sizes during the schematic design (SD) and design development (DD) phases.
- Edit project specifications to reflect the project requirements.
- Design air and water flows, as well as understand fan and pump curves to select the right equipment for each application.
- Use psychrometric charts properly to ensure optimal performance of HVAC systems.
- Meet with vendors to determine specification requirements for each project.
- Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure seamless integration of HVAC details.
- Respond to requests for information (RFI's) and accurately review submittals.
- Understand and manage the design process to meet available hours in the work plan.
- Deliver accurate documentation at the appropriate level of detail (SD, DD, CD).
- Modify sequences of operations for AHU's, CHW, and HW systems.
- Understand both constant and variable flow systems, and apply the correct equipment for each project.
- Meet with contractors during the bid phase to review design details.
- Perform field verification and take-offs of existing systems for renovation projects.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design is required.
- EI or PE license is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience designing a variety of projects, including those mentioned above.
- Proficiency in Revit is essential.
