Position Title: Clinical Genetics Faculty Member

Reports To: Chair of the Department of Human Genetics

This role is pivotal in advancing clinical genetics programs within the medical school framework. The selected candidate will collaborate with fellow professionals in the Department of Human Genetics to ensure effective diagnosis and management of patients with potential genetic disorders. Responsibilities include providing inpatient consultations, addressing genetics inquiries, supporting newborn screening initiatives, and assisting in the management of metabolic disorders. The incumbent will uphold high standards of quality in clinical services and contribute to the growth of the Department of Human Genetics.
  • Facilitates the design and implementation of strategic initiatives aligned with the Department's goals.
  • Engages in departmental meetings and discussions.
  • Collaborates with healthcare providers across the medical school.
  • Participates in quality improvement efforts to enhance care coordination.
  • Involves in patient, community, and outreach initiatives.
  • Acts as a collaborating physician for advanced practice providers.
  • Identifies research opportunities that align with the Department's mission.
  • Works closely with the John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics on research objectives.
  • Enhances electronic medical record tools and functionalities in partnership with IT.
  • Develops initiatives to provide cutting-edge, patient-centered resources to ensure the highest standards of excellence.
  • Collaborates effectively with other physicians and allied health professionals to guide patients and families through the program, emphasizing a team-oriented approach to evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintains open communication with other departments and leadership regarding program activities, educational initiatives, research, and patient care.
  • Adheres to university and departmental policies and procedures while safeguarding university assets.
Job Requirements:

M.D. or M.D./Ph.D., Board Certified or eligible by the American Board of Medical Genetics (Clinical Genetics), Licensed or eligible in the state of Florida.
