Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct legal research and analyze complex legal documents and statutes
  • Write research memoranda and draft reports for publication
  • Make presentations to stakeholders, including judges, attorneys, and community leaders
  • Supervise law student research assistants and provide guidance on research projects
  • Develop and implement research projects assigned by the supervisor
  • Collaborate with the MLRI team to provide research support and analysis
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association
  • Two (2) years of experience related to legal research and policy analysis
  • Admission to practice law in the state of Mississippi
  • Strong research and writing skills, with the ability to interpret complex legal documents and statutes
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of public policy issues and the Mississippi legislative process
  • Familiarity with Mississippi and federal laws, regulations, and case law
  • Experience working in or with Mississippi state government and agencies
  • Proven track record of providing research support and analysis to policymakers and stakeholders
