Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer and RF Systems Specialist to join our team at FIRST RF, a fast-growing, multi-discipline, privately owned small business focused on engineering and manufacturing of advanced technologies.

About the Role

This is a full-time position that involves designing, developing, and testing cutting-edge RF systems and antennas for both government and commercial customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, experience with electronic packaging for high-reliability environments, and proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop RF systems and antennas for various applications, including phased-array systems, millimeter wave active antennas, and conformal antennas.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate customer needs, design prototypes, and build products that require both creativity and attention to detail.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision, taking ownership of projects and delivering results under tight deadlines.
  • Develop and implement new ideas and solutions to improve product performance, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical documentation, including design reports, test plans, and technical specifications.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant mechanical design experience, preferably in the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Experience with electronic packaging for high-reliability environments, including ASME Y14.5M-2009 and GD&T.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools, such as SolidWorks, and hands-on experience in multidiscipline hardware development environments.
  • Strong analytical and hardware troubleshooting skills, with excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with technical programming languages, such as Matlab or Python.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-810 and DO-160 specifications and test methods.
What We Offer

At FIRST RF, we offer a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $135,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits, including four weeks of PTO, flexible scheduling, tuition reimbursement, up to 6% 401k match, and employer-paid healthcare, dental, and vision plans.
