Electronics Engineering Leader for Spacecraft Systems

Spire Global is a space-to-cloud analytics company that owns and operates the largest multi-purpose constellation of satellites.
The Senior Electronics Engineer will be designing and integrating custom components for our next-generation satellite platform, including PCBAs, off-the-shelf components, custom sensors, radios, power systems, and making last-minute fixes. They will work with third-party fabricators and assemblers, interface with software and mechanical teams, and participate in guiding software and mechanical design.
This role requires electrical design of spacecraft electronics, component selection and circuit level design and simulation, schematic capture and PCB Layout using Altium Designer, power supply and power monitoring circuit design, design verification through circuit simulations, signal and power integrity simulation and analysis, peer review of schematics and layouts, board bring-up, verification and debugging, and leading the validation and qualification process for testing new and existing systems.
The successful candidate will have experience with electronics theory, board design, FPGA-based designs, high-speed digital layout design practices, digital communication interfaces, rigid, flex, and rigid-flex PCB design, strong debugging experience, and lab equipment operation. Preferred skills include design for IPC-6012DS Class 3A or ECSS-Q-ST-70-12C/60C compliance, high power electronic design, thermal management, SI tools experience, satellite communication systems, RF modem design and implementation, FPGA programming, embedded and DSP programming, and EMI/EMC testing experience.
In addition to base compensation, this role may be eligible for annual equity awards and our employee benefits program, including vacation, sick, and personal time off; optional medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage; a 401(K) plan; health and wellness reimbursement program; and participation in Spire's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
Salary Range $130,500 - $171,000 USD
