Pharmacy Order Entry Technician Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Order Entry Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Order Entry Technician, you will be responsible for accurately and efficiently entering medication orders into our computerized system, ensuring timely and accurate processing of prescriptions.

Responsibilities:

  • Triage and interpret medication orders, ensuring accuracy and productivity standards are met
  • Perform drug calculations, including basic mathematical calculations, to ensure accurate dosing
  • Resolve issues of denials identified through adjudication and follow-up claims in Point of Sale (POS)
  • Maintain current knowledge of Medicaid claim regulations and processes
  • Produce reports and keep management informed of unpaid claims and claims pending follow-up
  • Provide excellent customer service to external and internal customers, adhering to company values
  • Assist with drug preparation and dispensing under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist
  • Perform other tasks as assigned, including assisting in any area of the pharmacy as directed by management

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Pharmacy-related experience
  • Basic understanding of drugs, medication terminology, and metric system; ability to operate a computer

Licenses/Certifications:

As required by state regulations and business needs
