Utility Maintenance Specialist

Job Summary:
Under direct supervision, performs repairs of all water and wastewater infrastructure, including water mains, water services, water taps, fire hydrants, valves, sewer mains, sewer services, manholes, and cleanouts.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ability to follow written and oral directions.
2. Ability to use/operate various hand and power tools used in the repair and maintenance of the water and wastewater systems.
3. Under supervision, ability to perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
4. Ability to work an "on-call schedule" as assigned to respond to afterhours emergencies.
Additional Requirements:
5. Ability to safely operate heavy equipment, including front end loader, tractor/backhoe, tandem axle dump truck.
6. Ability to positively represent the City of Arlington and the Water Department in all interactions with others.
Minimum Qualifications:
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
·Ability to perform various physical movements, including carrying, crawling, dragging, lifting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting body, pulling, and/or pushing.
·Ability to work in an outdoor environment subject to dust and fumes, with exposure to electrical, mechanical, and/or explosive hazards.
·Ability to work in inclement weather and extreme temperatures.
·Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent up to 90 lbs.
·Ability to work flexible hours as needed to respond to emergency situations.
·Ability to use a variety of hand held or power tools.
Qualifying Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required.

- Criminal Background check
- Drug and Alcohol screen
- Physical and Human Performance Evaluation (HPE)
- Motor Vehicle Check (MVR)
