Paralegal Transactions Specialist

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is seeking a highly motivated and organized Paralegal Transactions Specialist to join the Law Department's Transactions Unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in contract review, drafting, and negotiation, as well as experience with contract lifecycle management and systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and manage contract requests from departments to ensure completeness of materials submitted.
  • Work with submitting departments, Procurement, and assigned attorneys to resolve any issues.
  • Review, structure, draft, and negotiate contracts for the purchase of goods and services, ensuring compliance with laws and CPS policies.
  • Develop and update contract templates, and maintain a shared resource library for efficient access to the latest approved contract templates and provisions.
  • Support accurate data maintenance for unit systems and timely pull system data reports.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, with a paralegal certificate preferred.
  • At least three years of experience as a paralegal or contracts manager with successful project management, contract review, drafting, and negotiation experience.
  • Highly organized with the ability to keep unit and attorney projects on track, and demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy while balancing multiple time-sensitive priorities.
Working Conditions:
  • Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency: Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.
  • Be Fully Vaccinated Against COVID-19: Unless approved for a medical or religious exemption, all employees are required to be up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations, including boosters, and to submit proof of vaccination to the district within 30 days of hire.
