Peraton is in search of a Senior Systems Engineer to contribute to our Department of Defense (DoD) Community customer within a dynamic and high-performing team. This role involves supporting a sophisticated program that encompasses the design, development, testing, and deployment of a complex system in an Agile environment, ultimately aiding mission success for diverse stakeholders.
Primary Duties:
- Collaborate closely with DoD customers and stakeholders throughout the system lifecycle, focusing on development, integration & testing, deployment, and operational phases of a highly advanced ground system architecture.
- Assist in the creation of mission-critical, highly available, and high-performance networked systems within a collaborative team setting.
- Generate systems engineering documentation, including operational concepts, requirements, specifications, interface control documents, and validation & verification plans.
- Engage in system planning and design to enhance resources in alignment with program requirements.
- Support trade studies related to ground systems.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Possession of an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and the capability to obtain or maintain a polygraph, if necessary.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, accompanied by 8+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering capacity; OR a Master's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience. Four (4) years of pertinent experience may substitute for a Bachelor's degree.
- Proficiency with Windows-based operating systems, scripting languages for task automation, and system configuration automation tools (such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc.).
- Experience in system integration and testing, as well as system configuration of networked services, file systems, and authentication.
- Skills in operating system administration for Red Hat 7.x, including building systems from scratch, software package installation, troubleshooting, and implementing security measures.
- Direct experience with Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with distributed computing technologies.
- Experience with virtualization/cloud technologies (e.g., OpenStack, Citrix XenServer, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, and/or VMware), Docker Containers, Ansible, and Heat templates.
- Experience with front-end processing and network gateway appliances and/or software.
- Experience in designing, developing, and integrating a comprehensive satellite ground system, including infrastructure, processing frameworks, and software components.
- Familiarity with object-oriented development practices, open architecture systems, distributed computing technologies, web services, SOA, networking technologies, requirements management tools, scripting, automated testing tools, modeling and simulation, and/or security certification processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with management, customers, and various stakeholders across the DoD.
- Detail-oriented, capable of multitasking, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
