Psychiatrist - Adult Assertive Community Treatment

Maine Behavioral Healthcare (MBH) is in search of a Board Certified/Board Eligible Psychiatrist to enhance its growing team in Springvale, Maine. The selected candidate will take on a pivotal role in providing medical guidance to the multidisciplinary Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team, focusing on the treatment process within the MBH continuum of care. Responsibilities include leading the treatment planning process, overseeing pharmacologic interventions, and collaborating with primary care providers while integrating therapeutic approaches.

This position entails a commitment of eight hours per week and requires collaboration with a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, in addition to engaging in psychotherapy, case management, and working alongside other team members. The ACT team adheres closely to national standards and is one of four such teams within the MBH system, dedicated to delivering care to patients aged 18 and older.

Our expanding behavioral healthcare system is intricately woven into the holistic framework of MaineHealth, representing a model for addressing serious mental health challenges on both regional and national levels.

Required Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an Allopathic or Osteopathic Medical School, with completion of an internship and psychiatric residency or fellowship training.

Licensure/Certifications: Valid physician licensure from the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine. Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or eligibility for examination as evidenced by documentation. Board Certified or board eligible in general psychiatry. Current DEA Registration Certificate.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience, inclusive of residency and/or fellowship training.

Compliance with additional credentialing criteria as defined in Medical Staff By-laws.
