The Clinical Nurse Educator provides specialized clinical knowledge, educational guidance, and leadership within the peri-operative services to enhance patient care and support nursing staff development.
This role emphasizes adherence to regulatory standards by collaborating with ECHN personnel to establish relevant and compliant practices.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
Candidates must possess a degree from an accredited School of Nursing and maintain a current Registered Nurse license in Connecticut. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required, while a Master’s Degree in Nursing is preferred, with matriculation expected within one year of employment.
Preferred certifications include basic education or critical care nursing.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in clinical practice, nursing education, or nursing management within an acute care environment is essential.
COMPETENCIES:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and exceptional communication skills. Maintaining confidentiality and clinical competency in the assigned area is crucial.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Clinical Nurse Educator will:
- Provide educational leadership to enhance specialized patient care within Intensive Care Units and Step Down Units.
- Evaluate the quality of care in nursing environments to ensure excellence.
- Coordinate and implement orientation programs for nursing staff, collaborating with Nurse Managers to address any concerns.
- Ensure accurate completion of orientation documentation and collaborate with healthcare providers to deliver educational curricula.
- Plan and execute annual competency assessments in partnership with Nurse Managers and medical staff.
- Monitor compliance with quality standards and implement educational strategies accordingly.
- Utilize advanced judgment and expertise to identify and address issues affecting patient care.
- Engage in clinical practice interventions that improve outcomes, patient satisfaction, and resource management.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and evaluate care standards and quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in the evaluation of technology's impact on patient care and resource allocation.
- Act as a resource for nurses and healthcare professionals, providing information to support informed decision-making.
- Engage in teaching and coaching for nursing staff, graduate students, and patients/families.
- Commit to ongoing professional development and foster a culture of inquiry to identify research needs.
- Analyze and apply research findings to enhance clinical practice and patient care delivery.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to promote teamwork and integrative solutions.
- Serve as a role model, demonstrating the integration of theory and evidence-based practice.
- Act as a change agent, linking resources and staff while advocating for clinical and professional leadership.
