Job Title: Director of Nursing

Saint Joseph Living Center is a non-profit, 120-bed Skilled Nursing Facility located in Windham, CT. We offer short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, and end-of-life care. Our community is Catholic faith-based, sponsored by the Diocese of Norwich, and welcomes residents and staff of all faiths. The Center features both indoor and outdoor amenities, including a Chapel with daily mass and a beautiful enclosed courtyard.

Job Summary:

The Director of Nursing will lead the Nursing Department, working in tandem with the Assistant Director of Nursing. This role champions high-quality care, ensuring a competent and compassionate environment for our residents. The Director will support and supervise the nursing staff, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the staffing plan, reflecting the department's needs
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of nursing care through regular rounds
  • Develop, manage, and evaluate department policies and procedures, adhering to current rules and regulations
  • Deliver reports and recommendations to the Administrator, as necessary, regarding the nursing department's operation
  • Review complaints and grievances filed by residents, family members, and nursing staff
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with annual surveys
  • Represent the Organization both onsite and in the community
  • Maintain regulatory compliance in accordance with state and federal guidelines
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with residents, family members, staff, and the medical team
  • Collaborate with the Administrator to ensure quality, person-centered care
Requirements:
  • Active Connecticut RN Licensure
  • Previous supervisory experience in a long-term care facility
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
