Key Responsibilities


In collaboration with patients, their families, and other healthcare team members, the

ICU Stepdown Registered Nurse


is responsible for assessing, evaluating, planning, implementing, and coordinating treatment plans to meet the goals of the nursing department.

You will play a vital role within the interdependent team, responsible for achieving positive patient and departmental outcomes.


Responsibilities include:


- Monitoring cardiac and other critical vital signs to detect changes, enabling timely intervention in life-threatening situations.
- Responding to Code Blue situations within the facility and initiating protocols, special procedures, and cardiac monitoring.

- Managing patient flow efficiently, including screening, preparation for examinations, providing general nursing care, and coordinating testing and admissions.

- Educating patients and families regarding medications and treatment plans.
- Maintaining and reviewing patient records, including documenting tests and examination results.
- Administering medications per physician orders.
- Conducting daily checks of rooms for necessary supplies.
- Responding to and referring incoming telephone calls (may include phone triage when necessary).

Qualifications

- Must be a graduate from an accredited nursing program: Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher is required.
- Must hold a valid Registered Nurse license in the state of practice and/or an active Compact/Multi-State RN license.
- A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification is required.
- A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Health Care Provider certification is preferred and must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer date.
- A minimum of one year of previous acute care nursing experience is required.
