Responsibilities:

Position Summary:
The Imaging Specialist will conduct diagnostic imaging procedures across multiple modalities, tailored to the needs of the department.

These procedures will be executed following the directives of licensed physicians, adhering to established protocols and standards under the supervision of the Imaging Supervisor and Medical Director.

The role requires proficiency in patient care across all age groups, including neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Supervisor, and participation in the on-call schedule may be necessary to ensure comprehensive coverage during evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Knowledge of:

In-depth understanding of anatomy and physiology relevant to imaging; medical terminology associated with imaging practices; operational principles and maintenance of imaging equipment; current imaging techniques; radiation safety protocols for patients and operators; film processing methodologies; and safety standards in patient examination environments.


Ability to:

Minimize radiation exposure for patients and staff; perform a variety of radiographic procedures that meet departmental quality standards; identify and respond to potential allergic reactions and other critical patient conditions during imaging; interact courteously and empathetically with patients and their families; effectively manage interactions with distressed or ill patients; foster collaborative relationships with medical staff; maintain confidentiality of patient information; prioritize multiple tasks and manage workflow efficiently; work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances; keep accurate records and documentation; operate and maintain departmental information systems; and uphold a sterile environment.

Qualifications:

This position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and training to fulfill the specialized skills required.


Candidates must possess a valid California license as a certified Radiologic Technologist, including a Fluoroscopic permit, along with current CPR and BLS certifications from an accredited organization.

Comprehensive understanding of anatomy and physiology for imaging; medical terminology related to imaging; operational principles and care of imaging systems; accepted imaging practices; radiation safety standards; film processing systems; and the use and risks associated with diagnostic contrast materials.
