This is a unique opportunity to play a crucial role in supporting federal, state, and local tax compliance across all World Fuel Services entities. As a Tax Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for managing tax-related liabilities and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and submit tax returns: Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual fuel excise and sales tax returns in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Reconcile tax liability accounts: Reconcile tax liability accounts and maintain a tax exemption and tax rule database to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Perform tax research: Perform tax research to ensure compliance with state filing requirements and stay up-to-date on changes in tax laws and regulations.
  • Utilize tax software: Utilize Avalara software for EDI reporting to various jurisdictions and ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Maintain tax records: Maintain detailed records of tax notices received and ensure all compliance requirements are met.
  • Answer tax questions: Answer motor vehicle tax and sales tax questions by researching and interpreting state communications.
  • Ensure compliance: Ensure all compliance requirements are met, both internally and externally, and assist in State audits as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from a four-year college or university.
  • Experience: One to three years of experience in excise tax, preferably.
  • Advanced Excel skills: Advanced knowledge of Excel, including lookups, pivots, and formulas.
  • Analytical skills: Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and organization skills.
  • Communication skills: Strong communication skills and ability to work well under deadlines.
