Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team at Children's Rescue Fund. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for providing accounting support to our locations and programs, ensuring efficient operation and compliance with financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately code and prepare expenses and invoices for data entry into our accounting software.
  • Prepare monthly expense reports for our funding sources.
  • Provide accounting support to our executive and financial management team.
  • Maintain logs and fiscal records for analysis.
  • Reconcile bank statements and maintain bank binders.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Maintain intercompany and allocation schedules.
  • Assist with annual audits and other funding source audits.
  • Enter periodic payroll entries and reconcile payroll accounts.
  • Assist with special projects and run ad-hoc reports.

Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate effective communication with staff and participate in staff meetings.
  • Participate in training and staff-development activities to maintain professional skills.
  • Maintain required job skills and core professional competencies.
  • Assist with special interdepartmental assignments.
  • Assist with audit schedules and production.

Principal Relationships:
  • Frequent contact with staff within the department.
  • Collaborative working relationship with external and internal financial staff members.
  • Interact with other departments or divisions to ensure cooperation and delivery of proper services.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting with four years' experience in accounting functions in a non-profit office setting.
  • Background in non-profit required.
  • Detail-oriented with significant knowledge of payroll administration, including state and federal regulations.
  • Accounting functions in a non-profit office setting preferred.
  • MS-Office preferred, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience working with ADP.
  • MIP and other databases preferred.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Exhibit a professional demeanor at all times to all customers.

Other Requirements:
  • May be required to work long hours and a varied schedule.
  • Travelling throughout various locations in the New York City area.
  • Lifting and moving objects weighing up to 30 pounds several times a week.
