Job Summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to fill the position of Women's Health Navigator. This role requires a professional nurse with expertise in providing patient-centered care, navigating complex healthcare systems, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients, including patient management, care coordination, and disposition planning.
  • Assist Veterans, family members, and caregivers in receiving the most appropriate options and services to meet their complex healthcare needs.
  • Coordinate care with multiple providers across all levels and sites of care, ensuring continuity of care to patients.
  • Provide oversight of the patient's journey through the diagnostic and treatment continuum, ensuring that all steps in the process are scheduled, timely, and completed.
  • Triangulate incoming referrals, discuss available care options, provide scheduling guidance, and serve as a resource within the service.
Requirements
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • English Language Proficiency: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7403(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.

  • Experience as an RN in a healthcare setting, with a focus on women's health and patient navigation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems, policies, and procedures, with the ability to navigate complex healthcare environments.
