Position Overview:

The Radiation Therapy Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting medical professionals by administering prescribed doses of ionizing radiation using specialized equipment, adhering to established protocols.

This role involves preparing the treatment area, clearly explaining procedures to patients, positioning them accurately, and delivering treatments. Continuous monitoring of patients during therapy sessions is essential to ensure their comfort and to detect any changes in their condition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review patient medical records to confirm treatment prescriptions, timing, and dosages.
  • Collaborate with physicians as needed to clarify treatment orders.
  • Set up the treatment area and equipment following established guidelines.
  • Communicate procedures to patients to alleviate anxiety and encourage cooperation.
  • Inform patients about potential treatment reactions and provide guidance on the care of irradiated areas.
  • Position patients appropriately under the equipment to target affected areas while safeguarding other regions from radiation exposure, in compliance with procedural standards.
  • Monitor patients throughout the procedures and report any changes in their condition, whether psychological or physiological, to the physician or relevant healthcare personnel.

Qualifications:

ARRT Certification:
Registration as a Radiation Therapy Technologist is required.
A graduate of an accredited associate degree program in Radiology or a closely related field is essential.

Strong analytical skills to address complex issues using foundational scientific, mathematical, or technical principles, along with extensive experience-based knowledge.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.

Work Environment:
