Position Information

The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work under the general supervision of their Medical Director and physician partners in WakeMed Physician Practices to deliver competent medical care to patients. This role may involve both inpatient and outpatient care, depending on the needs of the service.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Completion of referrals, consults, daily patient rounds, daily notes, discharge summaries, procedures, clinic notes, pre and post procedure care, prescribing, and patient care follow-ups.
  • Collaboration with other healthcare providers in a multidisciplinary approach to maximize patient care.
  • Functioning as an educator for PA/NP/DO students from healthcare education programs.
  • Maintaining the scope of practice consistent with policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines governed by the North Carolina Medical Board or Nursing Board and any other federal or state regulatory agencies, as well as WakeMed policies and procedures.
Requirements

1 year of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner is preferred.

Education requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and a Master's Degree in Nursing or a Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies.

Licensure and certification requirements include a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license, and Basic Life Support certification within 6 months of hire.

Work Schedule

Rotating hours, with weekend and call requirements as needed.
