Job Overview
CNC Machine Operator/Programmer sought by Sanders Industries Holdings to manage programming, setup, and operation of conventional, special purpose, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers for non-metallic part fabrication. Utilize Mastercam and/or Mastercam for SolidWorks in this position, which requires occasional overtime.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop complex mold, dies, and trim tooling using CAD data from engineering
  • Analyze blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
  • Determine and set controls to regulate machining factors, e.g.: speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media
  • Present effectively before groups of customers and/or employees representing Sanders Industries Holdings
  • Apply mathematical concepts, such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane geometry
  • Engage in problem-solving and respond to various concrete variables where only limited standardization exists
  • Machine Setup and Operation:
    1. Prepare jobs: gather materials, verify tooling availability, and pre-kit for upcoming jobs
    2. Set-up: load material and establish part origin and tool length offsets
    3. Select, align, and secure holding-fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines, e.g.: mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers
    4. Setup and operate machines for trial-run verification of accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data
    5. Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, adjust machine controls or control media as required
    6. First-article run of parts and follow-up adjustments as needed
    7. Use micrometers and calipers to measure: mark and scribe dimensions for reference points on material or work piece for guides for subsequent machining
    8. Install machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, test operation to ensure functionality and performance
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with MS Office software and documentation programs
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, diagrams, and procedure manuals
  • Able to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Flexible and cooperative attitude, including when asked to perform other duties or tasks not listed within this job description but within the scope of this position
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in English language
  • Commitment to safety practices, maintaining clean work area
  • Multi-task with great attention to detail to tasks ensuring industry standards for quality product and customer expectation
  • Process change through feedback and reviews
