Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Social Services Floater to join our team at Miami Beach Medical Group. As a Social Services Floater, you will play a vital role in providing general assistance to our patients, completing processes and applications to receive benefits through local resources and government-assisted programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with the completion of applications for government benefits, including SNAP, Medicaid, Medicare, and other programs.
  • Provide support with phone calls related to benefits and assist with the submission of verifications and general information regarding the application process.
  • Help patients activate or request their Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards.
  • Assist patients with applications for Medicare, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), social security cards, and other benefits related to the Social Security Administration.
  • Support patients in completing the naturalization process application and follow up until completion.
  • Complete American Passport applications and make appointments with the corresponding office.
  • Assist patients with applications for government cell phones, affordable internet, Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), housing, Section 8, and other public assistance benefits.
  • Assist patients with applications for special transportation services, bus passes, and disabled person parking permits.
  • Participate in monthly department meetings and service training to maintain standards and certifications.
  • Handle patient complaints and family members as appropriate.
  • Ensure all processes are completed and confidential information is handled in an honest, ethical, and professional manner.
  • Meet HIPAA standards and travel to various centers as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience with government-assisted programs and immigration services preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred; must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a customer service environment preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office, internet, and electronic health records.
  • Strong people skills, proactive, independent decision-making, and customer service-oriented.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and telephone skills.
  • Cheerful, pleasant, knowledgeable, and professional demeanor.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and relate well with all levels of individuals within the organization.
