Position:
CNC Turning Machine Specialist

Location:
Sandusky, OH

Shift:
1st Shift (6 am to 1:30 pm or 7 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays)

Compensation:
$20 to $27 per hour based on experience

Role Overview:
As a CNC Turning Machine Specialist, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, operating, and managing lathe and turning machines. Your expertise will be essential in shaping, boring, threading, forming, or finishing metal or plastic materials, including wire, rod, or bar stock.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program machines from scratch, ensuring precision in all operations.
  • Review setup sheets and specifications to determine the sequence of operations.
  • Insert and position cutting tools/tool holders on the turret.
  • Identify and report defective materials or questionable conditions to management.
  • Adhere to quality procedures and complete all relevant in-process inspection forms.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment.
  • Ensure all gauges used are calibrated and in optimal working condition.
  • Conduct inspections of machined products and document results.
  • Perform general maintenance on machines, including changing coolant and lubricants.
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in machining steel.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Familiarity with micrometers and calipers.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Willingness to learn and become proficient in operating relevant equipment.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality.
  • Excellent mathematical skills, including decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
