About Our Retail Team

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Sales Associate/Material Handler to join our Retail Team at The Salvation Army's Newbury Park Thrift Store. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean and organized store environment, and supporting the success of our Adult Rehabilitation Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide genuine and courteous assistance to customers and donors
  • Stock and merchandise products on the sales floor
  • Maintain the store and donation area, including cleaning and organization
  • Process cash transactions and follow POS/Cash Register policies
  • Ensure safety and compliance standards are met
  • Attend required store meetings and participate in team efforts
  • Unload and stock incoming inventory items accurately and efficiently
  • Inspect products for defects and damages
  • Assist donors with removing donated items from their vehicles and provide receipts
  • Separate and sort donated materials into proper containers
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to accurately handle cash transactions and operate POS/Cash Register systems
  • Pass a background check, including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry
  • Effective communication skills with management, colleagues, customers, and donors
Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects weighing up to 50lbs
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks
  • Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation
