Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Machinist Supervisor to join our team at Vigor, a Titan Company. As a key member of our shipyard operations team, you will be responsible for supervising machinist and mechanic work across multiple projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and communicate company safety culture and policies, holding employees accountable for demonstrating acceptable safety practices.
  • Work closely with operations managers and shop superintendents to plan and coordinate staffing needs, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Supervise assigned employees, including lower-level supervisors, and provide input on ways to instill attention to safety among all employees.
  • Coordinate regulatory agency compliance and ensure employees accomplish work in accordance with proper practices and specifications.
  • Prepare condition found reports, change orders, and reviews job hazard analyses, and train and coach others in these tasks.
  • Communicate changes in practices or policies, demonstrate and model behavior supportive of the company's direction, and provide meaningful and constructive suggestions for practice improvements.
  • Assist the estimating department as required for bidding work.
Requirements
  • Journey-level experience as an Outside Machinist with a concentration of recent experience in a shipyard type environment.
  • A minimum of three years' experience as a Machinist Supervisor in an industrial environment.
  • Demonstrate an adept ability to effectively lead the work of others.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of marine-related equipment, ship repair and construction techniques, sequencing of ship repair activities, and shipyard safety practices.
  • Basic math and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees, act as a leader and be recognized as such by others, read, understand and apply ship repair specifications, blueprints, technical procedures, and regulations.
Work Environment

The work environment for this job is demanding and potentially hazardous due to work on or inside ships as well as travel around the ship repair yard and outside work opportunities.
