Vigor, a leading industrial business, is seeking an experienced Machinist Supervisor to oversee the coordination of equipment and labor for various projects in our shipyard. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for planning, supervising, and ensuring the successful execution of assigned work disciplines.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and communicate company safety culture and policies, holding employees accountable for demonstrating acceptable safety practices.
- Work closely with the Operations Manager and Shop Superintendent on staffing needs and scheduling, as well as with Project Managers and Ship Superintendents on project elements.
- Provide supervision to assigned employees, including lower-level supervisors, and ensure the completion of tasks within deadlines.
- Coordinate regulatory agency compliance for assigned work disciplines and assure employees accomplish work in accordance with proper practices and specifications.
- Prepare condition found reports, change orders, and reviews job hazard analyses, and train and coach others in these tasks.
- Communicate changes in practices or policies, demonstrate and model behavior supportive of the company's direction, and provide meaningful and constructive suggestions for practice improvements.
- Train, coach, and mentor other supervisors in staffing and scheduling and other upper-level supervisory functions.
- Assist the estimating department as required for bidding work.
- Journey-level experience as an Outside Machinist with a concentration of recent experience in a shipyard type environment.
- A minimum of three years' experience as a Machinist Supervisor in an industrial environment.
- Demonstrate an adept ability to effectively lead the work of others.
