Summary:
The invasive cardiovascular technologist plays a crucial role in patient care by utilizing specialized equipment under the supervision of a qualified physician. This position is vital for conducting procedures that lead to accurate diagnoses and effective treatments for heart conditions, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and comfort.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist medical personnel by employing sterile techniques during all invasive cardiovascular procedures, including angioplasty, while preparing necessary surgical instruments and materials.
2. Monitor patients' hemodynamic status and ECG, collecting and entering vital information into the physiological monitoring system, and generating comprehensive reports post-procedure.
3. Conduct pre-procedure interviews to gather medical histories, review lab results, educate patients and families about the procedure, and secure informed consent.
4. Prepare the catheterization lab for invasive testing, ensuring all equipment is calibrated and daily quality assurance checks are performed.
5. Position patients correctly, connect monitoring devices, perform ECGs, and document all findings in the patient's medical records.
6. Support cardiologists with arterial closure devices, demonstrating proficiency in sheath removal and achieving hemostasis.
7. Serve as a resource for colleagues regarding the use and troubleshooting of complex technical equipment and supplies.
8. Collect data for relevant cardiac catheterization databases.
9. Engage in additional responsibilities such as inventory management, quality improvement initiatives, patient transport, scheduling, initiating IV therapy, and evaluating new medical products.
10. Be available for on-call duties as scheduled, addressing emergency procedures, including diagnostic and interventional tasks.
11. Meet organizational standards for quality, service, teamwork, self-development, and community engagement.
12. Ensure compliance with all responsibilities associated with the role.
13. Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or GED, basic computer skills, and proficiency in interpreting EKGs and hemodynamic pressure readings. Experience in endovascular, interventional, and diagnostic procedures is essential.
Minimum Experience:
One year of relevant experience.
Credentials:
Required: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
Desired:
