Purpose Statement: The Maintenance Team Leader oversees a unit dedicated to the upkeep of the plant's machinery, structures, and facilities. This role involves providing technical expertise in maintenance, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic engineering. Under the guidance of the Plant Engineer, the leader ensures compliance with maintenance schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate maintenance, electrical, and hydraulic work teams, offering engineering support.
- Mentor and inspire team members, facilitating training and development for optimal performance.
- Communicate performance expectations to team members, recognizing achievements and addressing performance issues.
- Analyze mechanical and operational challenges with assigned equipment, planning and executing corrective measures.
- Schedule preventive maintenance checks and inspections to ensure production continuity.
- Document causes of production delays and maintain operational reports for management.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and standards for plant facilities and grounds maintenance.
- Assist in preparing major equipment bids and represent the company in dealings with external contractors and vendors.
- Oversee plant safety, coordinating inspections and implementing solutions for identified deficiencies.
- Contribute to the development of maintenance and safety policies and procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets related to safety and maintenance.
- Stay updated on the latest manufacturing technologies and engineering concepts.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support the company's objectives.
- Collaborate with Process Improvement Teams in the preparation and execution of team charters.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED with HVAC licensing; BA/BS in Engineering or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting with knowledge of refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Proven expertise in preventative maintenance techniques and safety management.
- Familiarity with FA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), sanitation processes, and HACCP.
- Demonstrated understanding of efficient manufacturing operations, including safety, quality, and cost control.
- Ability to lead, coach, and train team members while planning and scheduling work effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Proficient in using Excel or similar spreadsheet software.
