Job Summary:

As a key member of the healthcare team, the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) plays a vital role in providing high-quality anesthesia care to patients undergoing various medical procedures. Under the medical supervision of an anesthesiologist, the CRNA administers general and regional anesthesia, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients across all age groups.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pre-Operative Evaluation: Conduct thorough interviews and examinations to assess patients' medical history and identify potential risks.
  • Anesthetic Selection: Collaborate with anesthesiologists to select the most suitable anesthetic for each patient based on their individual needs.
  • Monitoring and Management: Continuously monitor patients' vital signs and respond to any changes or complications during anesthesia administration.
  • Post-Operative Care: Evaluate patients' condition after surgery and take necessary actions to ensure their stability and comfort.
  • Education and Training: Provide guidance and mentorship to student nurse anesthetists and other healthcare professionals.
  • Compliance and Quality: Uphold Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, as well as relevant state and federal regulations, to ensure high-quality patient care and safety.
Requirements:
  • Education: Graduate of an educational program in Nurse Anesthesia accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs and Schools.
  • License and Certification: Registered Nurse License (California) and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (California) certification.
  • Advanced Life Support: Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support certifications.
  • Additional Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in a team environment, and proficiency in charting and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience: Previous experience in anesthesia care, particularly in major procedures involving extensive monitoring and fluid management.
  • Skills: Strong technical and clinical skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and proficiency in equipment and supply management.
