About the Role

The Active Treatment Facilitator (ATF) plays a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health needs in a psychiatric setting. As a key member of the treatment team, the ATF works under the direction of a Registered Nurse to assist with client goals and interventions outlined in recovery plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Therapeutic Activities: Provide therapeutic activities on the unit to promote client engagement and progress.
  • Assistance with Daily Living: Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and room clean up.
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention: Participate in crisis prevention and intervention with clients experiencing acute or chronic disabilities, including physical, mental, and developmental disorders.
  • Team Leadership: Serve as a team leader, mentoring less experienced staff and leading therapeutic groups.
  • Treatment Plan Implementation: Implement treatment plans through individual and group therapeutic sessions, choosing activities and leading group sessions.
  • Record Keeping: Update written records of therapeutic sessions, noting progress, problems, and possible solutions.
  • Observation and Reporting: Observe and record any unusual behavior or significant behavior changes, reporting to the treatment team as needed.
  • Client Supervision: Supervise clients to ensure their safety and security, observing and reporting any concerns.
  • Community Involvement: Participate in individual and group social activities, both on and off campus, to promote client engagement and community integration.
  • Employment Support: Work with public and private sector organizations to define and establish employment opportunities for clients, guiding and teaching clients regarding employment behavior.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Participate in inter-disciplinary team meetings to provide input on client needs, strengths, and weaknesses, and discuss client progress to inform the development of individual program plans.
  • Maintenance and Cleaning: Perform preventive maintenance and general cleaning of training materials, work areas, and equipment, including beds, bed rails, wheelchairs, splints, braces, adaptive mealtime equipment, and assistive technology devices.
  • Transportation: May drive or ride a van to transport clients to and from the facility or around grounds.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and experience in instructing and assisting clients in developing functional, social, recreational, and vocational skills. They will also have knowledge of working with persons with disabilities, applying laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures, and narrative report writing.
