Veterinary Care Specialist

We are seeking a compassionate and organized Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team at Hilton Head Veterinary Clinic. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting the veterinarian during examinations, providing restraint as needed, and preparing and administering treatments. You will also be responsible for collecting and preparing samples for laboratory testing, assisting in prepping patients for surgery, and obtaining radiographs of animals. Additionally, you will ensure a comfortable and sanitary environment for all patients and communicate with pet owners using a professional and compassionate attitude.
Requirements for this role include being a Certified Veterinary Technician with a current license, having 2-3 years of veterinary experience, and possessing knowledge of industry tools and equipment. You should also be able to properly handle and restrain animals and be a team player willing to continue to learn. Essential Job Tasks:
- Assists the veterinarian during the examination of animals
- Providing restraint as needed in order to work safely and effectively
- Prepare and administer treatments, as prescribed by the veterinarian
- Collect, prepare, and label samples for laboratory testing, culture, or microscopic examination
- Assist in prepping patients for surgery (or an aptitude to learn)
- Obtain radiographs of animals with knowledge of proper positioning and techniques
- Ensure a comfortable and sanitary environment for all patients
- Responsible for the care of boarding and hospitalized patients
- Prepare and sanitize the surgery suite - clean and maintain holding areas
- Communicate with pet owners using a professional, compassionate, and helpful attitude, using knowledge of preventative health care recommendations to accurately answer questions and relay doctor's information.
Requirements:
- Certified Veterinary Technician
- License must be current
- 2-3 years of veterinary experience
- Realize the importance of teamwork and communication
