Neuro PCU Patient Care Specialist

Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, this role assists patients with daily living activities and adheres to their care plan. The ideal candidate will effectively communicate with the healthcare team, patients, and their families to ensure seamless care delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Support patients with daily living tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, and toileting/hygiene, while maintaining standard precautions and safe patient practices.
- Perform technical duties as directed by RN/LPN, such as phlebotomy, vital signs, point-of-care testing, EKGs, bladder scanning, and foley catheter care, documenting results accurately.
- Identify and communicate changes in patient status to RN/LPN, responding accordingly and upholding standard precautions and safe patient practices.
- Reinforce patient and family education on individual care needs and safety concerns.
- Participate in Virtua patient satisfaction initiatives and performance improvement activities, assisting in new hire orientation.
This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a PCT course or fundamentals nursing course, and BLS certification. Phlebotomy training is necessary for Emergency Department positions. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a commitment to ongoing education and training to maintain regulatory and departmental competencies.
