Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a key member of our Radiology Department, you will be responsible for performing imaging procedures and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Rotates through various diagnostic areas to develop technical skills and expertise.
  • Performs image procedures based on patient assessment, request, and imaging protocols.
  • Produces high-quality images by utilizing imaging equipment and systems.
  • Selects optimal exposure factors to minimize radiation exposure.
  • Maintains expertise in anatomy, physiology, and pathology to optimize procedures and ensure patient safety.
  • Assesses patient needs and provides imaging-related care and support.
  • Prepares contrast agents and sterile trays according to procedural guidelines.
  • Educates patients on radiographic procedures and answers questions.
  • Promotes a team approach to providing Radiology services by interacting positively with healthcare staff.
  • Engages in problem-solving, crisis management, and performance improvements to enhance patient care.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited radiography school.
  • Registration or registry eligibility by the ARRT in Radiography.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
  • West Virginia state criminal background check required, and Federal, if applicable, for DHHR BMS regulated area.
Working Environment

Exposure to minimal radiation within national standards, monitored by Radiation Safety and use of dosimeter.

Exposure to airborne particles and bodily fluids.

Operation of imaging equipment with automated moving parts.

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to interact positively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
  • Ability to prioritize and deal with various situations simultaneously.
  • Ability to improvise with altered positioning techniques and equipment manipulation.
