As a Telecommunications Operator with the Arizona Official Website of State of Arizona, you will be responsible for operating hospital telecommunication equipment, answering and responding to calls, and transferring calls in a professional and customer-focused manner. You will also be responsible for maintaining area access and security levels, working in conjunction with Campus Support & Safety Main Control staff.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate hospital telecommunication equipment, including multi-line telephone sets, computers, 2-way radios, cell phones, pagers, fax machines, and printers.
- Answer and respond to calls, including emergency-related requests from hospital staff, in a timely and customer-focused manner.
- Transfer calls and patch potentially stressful emergency-related calls, utilizing sound judgment and accuracy.
- Maintain accurate telecommunications-related databases, records, and logs, including caller identification numbers.
- Work in conjunction with Campus Support & Safety Main Control staff to maintain area access and security levels.
- Knowledge of operating hospital communications equipment, answering and responding to calls, and general hospital services.
- Ability to evaluate situations and exercise competent judgment under stressful situations, in transferring, patching, or placing emergency and routine phone calls.
- Ability to speak clearly and professionally, remain calm in receiving and dispatching calls, and communicate accurately and concisely both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to provide outstanding customer service by responding to patient/resident, public, and staff concerns/requests in a courteous and respectful manner.
- High School diploma or equivalent required, with 1 year work experience in customer service with multiple line telephones, computers, and technology.
- A State hospital employee must possess a valid level one fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to A.R.S.
