Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center. As a PRN RN - ED, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team, and contributing to the delivery of exceptional patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide primary nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and communication.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of patient care plans, including medication administration, treatment, and education.
  • Monitor and manage critically ill patients, including those requiring life support and automated equipment.
  • Perform routine and complex treatments, including IV insertion, medication administration, and emergency resuscitation.
  • Participate in special procedures and examinations, preparing patients and providing emotional support as needed.
  • Document patient observations, interventions, and outcomes, including medication and treatment therapies.
  • Assess and improve the performance of care and service provided, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a RN program required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Current nurse's license in the state of Pennsylvania or a current multistate license (MSL) from compact member states/territories required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or obtained within 6 months; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or obtained within 1 year.
  • CEN certification preferred.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Must be able to work irregular hours, including call hours.
  • Ability to care for patients of all ages, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with physicians, family members, patients, subordinate staff, and other hospital personnel.
