The Staff Attorney plays a critical role in providing comprehensive legal services to the Oregon AFSCME Council 75. This position requires a strong understanding of labor and employment laws, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

About the Role:

This is a unique opportunity for a skilled attorney to join our team and contribute to the success of our organization. As a Staff Attorney, you will be responsible for representing the Council and Local Unions in various legal matters, including arbitrations, ERB/NLRB cases, and litigation. You will also provide legal advice and guidance to supervisors, coworkers, and member leaders on various aspects of contract administration and organizing campaigns.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced attorney who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in labor and employment law, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent the Council and Local Unions in various legal matters, including arbitrations, ERB/NLRB cases, and litigation.
  • Provide timely and competent legal advice to supervisors, coworkers, and member leaders on various aspects of contract administration and organizing campaigns.
  • Work with the Executive Director and/or Associate Director to ensure that Council staff receive timely and informative training on labor and employment laws.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of organizational policies and procedures related to labor and employment law.
What We Offer:
