Job Summary:

As a Supervisory Sales Associate at Navy Exchange, you will be the face of our company to both our customers and associates. You will be responsible for highlighting our brand and image while contributing to building our reputation as a company that values its customers and their opinions. You will be directly responsible for assisting customers and helping them recognize the need for our products and services. You will also be a team leader to the associates, ensuring the work environment is positive and productive.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Customer Service: Proactively engage and make a connection with customers, asking questions and listening to their needs, directing them to merchandise, and providing premier customer service.
  • Organization: Maintain store appearance and ensure a clean and organized store environment.
  • Sales: Cross-sell products, know the layout of the store, make suggestions to customers based on their individual needs, and upsell products.
  • Inventory: Be the keeper of merchandise, complete all inventory processes, and ensure merchandise is properly checked in and accurately ticketed.
  • Dependability: Adhere to assigned work schedule and accurately complete follow-through on work assignments.
Supervisory Requirements:
  • Provide effective leadership, demonstrate ability to direct, train, and motivate associates, and set a positive example.
  • Provide direction, work assignments, training to sales associates, and provide input to Department Manager on associate performance.
Qualifications:
  • Product Knowledge: Moderate level of knowledge of products, merchandise, and ability to provide training documentation to sales associates on product features.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of retail or relevant work experience required, with 1 year of lead or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Strong, interpersonal, and communication skills, with ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents.
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic math functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, with ability to use a calculator and calculate percentages and ratios.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to multi-task, work as part of a team, and take initiative, independent of direct supervision.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:

This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Involves lifting at least 25 lbs. and up to 50lbs in some departments. Work typically performed indoors but may be assigned outdoors depending upon location.
