Job Overview

The Human Resources Specialist will deliver comprehensive HR support to designated clients, fostering effective relationships with leadership, management, and staff to influence and implement HR processes and initiatives. This role encompasses responsibilities across various functional areas, including but not limited to: recruitment, training, performance evaluation, onboarding of new hires, and compliance with employment laws.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This position reports to the site HR Manager and does not have any direct reports.
  • Provide a full spectrum of HR advice, support, and consultation, ensuring adherence to HR policies and processes for assigned departments and employees.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to customer service by delivering timely and accurate responses to employee inquiries and requests.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
  • Oversee the talent acquisition workflow for all production roles, including updating job descriptions, posting vacancies, sourcing candidates, screening applicants for organizational fit, updating candidate statuses in Workday, and managing pre-employment processes as directed by the HR Manager.
  • Execute all new hire transactions in Workday, create personnel files, and coordinate onboarding activities.
  • Serve as the primary contact for general employee inquiries and assist with the administration of policies, programs, procedures, and processes as directed by the HR Manager; escalate complex employee issues as necessary.
  • Provide general administrative support, including onboarding and training coordination, assistance with annual reviews, and miscellaneous reporting.
  • Collaborate with operations and administrative teams to ensure completion of on-the-job and computer-based training for new hires, promotions, and current employees.
  • Participate in and support company events such as summer cookouts and pizza parties.
  • Assist the HR Manager with various HR and company-wide initiatives, including safety events, performance review processes, benefits open enrollment, and training programs.
  • Maintain all personnel files, including those related to terminations, training, and other employee-related documents.
  • Support the HR Manager with ADA, EEOC, and other compliance initiatives.
  • Assist the HR Manager in creating and maintaining job descriptions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Information:

  • Meet critical deadlines for time-sensitive tasks (recruitment coordination, new hire processing, employee termination processes, meeting requests, etc.).
  • Ensure 100% accuracy in HRIS data entry and management of employee files.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks as directed by the HR Manager.
  • Travel to other locations may be required as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and one to three years of experience in human resources (internships, full-time, and/or part-time).
  • Knowledge and ability to address compliance and regulatory issues.
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 10% of the time.
  • Ability to work in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work outside of standard business hours to meet operational needs.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently and professionally.
  • Strong customer service orientation, along with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy while managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, discretion, initiative, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
  • Experience with Workday and/or HRIS systems.
  • High awareness of labor compliance, amendments, regulations, including Affirmative Action Planning and relevant court decisions.
  • Understanding of group benefit plans and the process of open enrollment for benefits.
