Research and Development Lab Technician

Avery Dennison is seeking a highly skilled Research and Development Lab Technician to join our Performance Tapes Division. This role is focused on supporting innovation and new technology development in North America.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the development of new products and technologies through laboratory testing and experimentation.
- Collaborate with product development engineers, tech service engineers, and account managers to ensure product performance meets customer needs.
- Conduct experiments and studies to support development efforts, including creating sample materials and testing products.
- Ensure all actions comply with safety and quality procedures, including ISO standards.
- Responsible for publishing and updating product data sheets, registering and storing data, and reporting to customers and colleagues.
- Manage time effectively, plan tasks, and identify bottlenecks to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Work effectively with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, and engineering, to address adhesive and product-related issues for customers.
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials/Polymer Science, or related field.
- Experience in general laboratory practices and basic data analysis.
- Excellent hands-on technical skills, including mechanical skills and ability to use small hand tools.
- Prior experience in similar industries, such as electric battery application testing and automotive specification testing, is an advantage.
- High level of accuracy, pro-active approach, and strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and statistical analysis software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and travel up to 5%.
- Skilled in executing experiments and trials, with demonstrated scientific acumen and strategic thinking.
- Skilled in developing documentation of experimental results and interpretations.
- Understanding of computer systems, including Microsoft Office, ERP software, and function-specific software.
- Skilled in making moderately complex mathematical computations.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with good verbal and written communication skills.
- Skilled in interfacing effectively with cross-functional groups to define and execute overall requirements.
- Strong lab protocol knowledge and comfortable with various mechanical test equipment.
- Solid scientific and engineering knowledge.
