Position Summary
The role involves overseeing a team dedicated to the development and upkeep of hydraulic models for natural gas distribution and transmission networks. This position is responsible for ensuring that model outputs are delivered on time and that data integrity is maintained by effectively managing resources and priorities. The role also includes identifying and resolving issues related to data, processes, and software tools, as well as implementing new software and procedural enhancements to optimize outcomes. Additionally, this position provides analytical support and is accountable for planning necessary hardware and software modifications that affect the System Planning division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Possess a solid understanding of facility data within GIS, PITS, AR, SCADA, and customer information systems.
- Collaborate with local System Operations, Marketing, Gas Operations, GIS, and IT teams to establish and automate data extraction processes where feasible.
- Utilize hydraulic modeling and data processing tools to construct and validate models.
- Maintain the gas distribution model and load data.
- Offer subject matter expertise for various in-house applications, including Synergi and Customer Management Module.
- Effectively manage resources and priorities to ensure timely model deliverables.
- Quickly identify essential data for model construction and efficiently process large datasets.
- Ensure data accuracy by addressing issues related to data, processes, or software tools at their source.
- Identify opportunities for improvement by regularly evaluating business needs against current resources and service levels.
- Work closely with System Operations, IT, Gas Control, Land Management, Customer Development, Marketing, Rate, Engineering Design, and Field Operations to ensure data accuracy and currency.
- Provide justification for recommended solutions.
- Engage with vendors to ensure future software enhancements align with business requirements.
- Supervise staff to ensure performance standards are met.
- Conduct quality control of hydraulic models and GIS mapping systems.
- Perform validation checks to ensure model accuracy in relation to field conditions.
- Identify issues and implement changes to enhance existing processes and procedures.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Professional Engineering License.
Required:
- 10-15 years of experience in engineering, technology, or GIS roles.
Required:
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Intermediate proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or similar systems.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Access.
- Advanced proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or similar systems.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Synergi Gas Modeling software.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Access.
- This position is primarily office-based.
- Physical demands include prolonged periods of sitting.
- On-call duties may be required after training and experience are gained.
