About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our team at WSP. As a key member of our environmental consulting team, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and guidance for water resources engineering work and environmental permitting projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop processes, infrastructure, and operating strategies related to dams and hydraulic structures, stormwater facilities, culverts, and open channel design.
  • Perform high-level professional water resources engineering work and analyses, relating to dams and hydraulic structures, and surface water management in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and standards.
  • Prepare watershed studies, floodplain studies, and evaluate regulated impoundment structures for compliance with regulations.
  • Prepare data and visualizations, such as tables, charts, reports, models, cross-sections, and other illustrations for the interpretation and presentation of complex data, findings, and analyses.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute mid-level projects, which may include geotechnical work, environmental assessments, and regulatory permitting to provide future-ready solutions for clients.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Water Resources or a closely related discipline.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience in water resources engineering.
  • Engineer in Training or Engineer license required.
  • Proficient knowledge of water resource engineering principles, practices, processes, design, and the application to environmental permitting and project work-related issues.
  • Well-defined knowledge with stormwater management, drainage, erosion and sediment control, hydrology & hydraulics design, watershed studies, floodplain delineation, etc.
  • Well-developed ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles.
  • Proficient understanding of and well-defined experience with surface water, hydrologic, and hydraulic methodologies and models (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS 1D and 2D, SITES, SWMM), and managing special data in ESRI ArcGIS and AutoCAD software.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Highly proficient with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
