Job Summary

DeLaSalle High School is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Head Track Coach to lead our Boys and Girls Track Program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in coaching and a passion for developing student athletes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and direct the DeLaSalle High School Boys and Girls Track Program, including its development and growth.
  • Instruct and demonstrate skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team development.
  • Ensure that team rules and regulations regarding conduct and eligibility of the athletes are clearly communicated and followed.
  • Plan, organize, advertise, and conduct tryouts for the track program; inform the Athletic Director and participants of final selections.
  • Plan, organize, advertise, and conduct practices during the track season.
  • Consult with the Athletic Director regarding any off-season training programs, including scheduling dates for summer camps/practices, uniform fittings, pre-post tryout informational parent meetings.
  • Host informational parent meetings at the beginning of the season for all levels.
  • Create a safe environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Work directly with the school Athletic Director in reporting injuries, teaching precautions and procedures to ensure staff/student safety and help students prevent injuries.
  • Model good sportsmanship behavior and maintain appropriate behavior towards opposing teams, fans, parents, officials, spectators, and community.
  • Additional responsibilities include: Provide structure for academic and social-emotional interventions for players; Be willing to support transportation if necessary; Create a schedule of games in collaboration with the AD; Ensure all students have physicals before they are allowed to practice; Submit requests for team purchases to AD; Attend all games and practices; Ride the buses to and from school to play games with athletes; Create a system of distribution and tracking of uniforms.
Requirements
  • Previous coaching experience, 2 or more years preferred.
  • Ability to pass an extensive background check.
  • Evidence of the willingness and the ability to comply with the standards for ethical and professional performance established by MSHSAA and DLS HS.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized, self-starter with the ability to adapt to support the best interest of the student.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding students.
