Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Director of Finance to join our team at the City of Corinth. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong background in municipal finance, accounting, and budgeting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Planning and Budgeting: Develop and implement comprehensive financial plans and budgets for the City, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and objectives.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports to the City Council and other stakeholders, providing insightful analysis and recommendations for improvement.
  • Accounting and Auditing: Oversee the City's accounting operations, ensuring compliance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) standards.
  • Cash and Debt Management: Develop and implement effective cash management and debt management strategies, ensuring the City's financial stability and solvency.
  • Investment and Banking Relationships: Manage the City's investment portfolio and banking relationships, ensuring optimal returns and risk management.
  • Supervision and Leadership: Provide guidance and oversight to the Accounting Division, ensuring the delivery of high-quality financial services and support to the City.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or Public Administration.
  • Experience: Five years of progressively responsible experience in municipal finance, accounting, budgeting, and/or cash and debt management, with supervisory experience.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license and training and certification on Public Funds Investment Act, §.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree: Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or Public Administration.
  • Professional Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) certification.
