Job Summary

The Environmental Health and Safety Consultant I provides independent consultation services, including onsite visits to businesses and industries in Alabama.

This position involves performing consultation visits, technical field tests, surveys, inspections, and environmental monitoring services under general supervision.

The successful candidate will adhere to record keeping requirements, train and supervise student workers, and provide direct technical field assistance to University staff.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and six years of occupational safety experience, or an associate's degree and four years of occupational safety experience, or a bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of occupational safety experience.

The candidate must also have a valid U.S. driver's license and be at least 19 years of age at time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will have a bachelor's degree in engineering, safety science, business, management, public health, or physical sciences, and experience performing X-ray fluorescence testing for lead in painted surfaces.

Experience and familiarity with EPA and HUD sampling protocols related to sampling for lead in dust and soil are also preferred.
