Position Summary

The Security Control Assessor Representative (SCA-R) / Dedicated Team Lead plays a pivotal role in collaborating with project management to comprehend mission objectives, security frameworks, deployment sites, and any modifications to the program. This role involves conducting cybersecurity evaluations and risk assessments. The primary goal of the SCA-R support is to execute SCA-R/team lead responsibilities within the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process. Each team lead will oversee approximately 25 programs, which may include support for various defense and governmental entities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Serve as a technical authority on multiple project assignments, encompassing equipment standards, operating systems, and communication protocols.
2. Utilize analytical skills to assess security measures with automated tools, providing recommendations for enhancements to the security posture of IT components.
3. Lead a team in performing certification evaluations for designated programs, which includes:
- Reviewing change requests
- Evaluating ports, protocols, and services
- Analyzing self-assessment results and compliance statements
- Conducting scans and Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) reviews
- Assessing cybersecurity control evidence and artifacts
4. Conduct thorough security architecture reviews to ensure compliance with STIG requirements and best practices.
5. Develop tailored checklists based on security architecture and deployment guidelines.
6. Analyze Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M) to assess residual risk and validate proposed mitigation strategies.
7. Facilitate risk assessments to identify threats and vulnerabilities, ensuring effective countermeasures are in place.

Qualifications

- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or equivalent combination of IT technical or cybersecurity education and extensive experience.
- Proven experience in a federal program environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows/Office and project management tools.
- Must possess a valid 8570 DOD IAM-III level certification (CISM, CISSP, GSLC, CCISO) and a Secret or Top Secret Clearance.
