Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Podiatry Medical Assistant to join our team at Foot and Ankle Solutions, a leading medical and surgical podiatry practice in Bedford, TX and Flower Mound, TX. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our physicians in treating all foot and ankle conditions.

About the Role

This is a full-time opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate individual to work closely with our podiatrists and support staff to deliver high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of foot and ankle anatomy, conditions, and treatments, as well as effective communication skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to clinics**: Travel to and from our clinics in Bedford and Flower Mound, based on physician schedules.
  • Verify patient information**: Verify patient information, medical history, and confirm the purpose of each visit.
  • Prepare patients for examination**: Prepare patients for examination by ensuring they are comfortable and prepared for their appointment.
  • Assist with treatment/prevention**: Assist with the treatment and prevention of foot and ankle conditions and injuries.
  • Support minor surgeries**: Assist with minor in-office surgical procedures under the guidance of our experienced podiatrists.
  • Electronic prescription management**: Send prescriptions electronically to pharmacies.
  • Order diagnostic tests**: Submit orders for diagnostic tests, labs, etc.
  • Provide patient education**: Provide additional patient education on foot and ankle care and prevention.
  • Maintain accurate records**: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
  • Workplace safety**: Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment.
  • Protect the practice**: Protect the practice by adhering to professional standards, office policies, and federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Sterilization and disinfection**: Autoclave and sterilize surgical instruments and perform thorough cleaning and disinfection tasks.
  • X-ray operation**: Perform x-rays using our in-house x-ray machine.
  • Office maintenance**: Clean and stock back-office rooms, inventory medical supplies, and re-order as needed.
  • Wound care**: Dress wounds and assist with wound care.
  • Orthotic fitting**: Fit patients with CAM walker boots, ankle braces, AFO braces, drop foot braces, etc., and assist the physician in making adjustments to orthotic inserts.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of foot and ankle anatomy**: Strong knowledge of foot and ankle anatomy, conditions, and treatments.
  • Effective communication**: Effective communication skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certification or experience**: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification or equivalent experience preferred, but not required.
  • 2+ years in medical office**: 2+ years of experience working in a medical office setting.
  • EMR and medical terminology**: Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and medical terminology.
  • Prior experience**: Prior experience in podiatry, orthopedic, or urgent care settings is preferred.

Benefits and Compensation

We offer a competitive salary range of $55,000 - $65,000 per year, based on relevant experience. In addition, we provide opportunities for professional growth and development, as well as a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, no weekends.
