Position Overview

Turner Industries Group is seeking an Instrumentation Specialist for maintenance tasks at a designated facility.

Note: This position does not offer per diem or relocation assistance; candidates must reside in or near the area.

  • Standard work hours: 40 per week

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Preferred qualifications include an Instrumentation Degree or NCCER Certification
  • Successful completion of a drug screening and background verification is mandatory

General Responsibilities:

The role involves the calibration of both electronic and pneumatic instruments, including tasks in the field and control room, as well as the installation of instrument loops.

Key Duties:

Responsibilities include receiving, inventorying, and cataloging instruments for calibration in accordance with the construction timeline; establishing calibration and loop documentation; monitoring the installation of instrument loops; coordinating and executing (or assisting with) loop checks, including necessary computer interactions; maintaining records of installation and completion; managing loop schematics; installing air and control tubing; executing startup procedures; inspecting meters, indicators, and gauges for irregularities; testing the precision of flow meters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, radiation counters, and other recording or controlling instruments to identify faulty components; removing and decontaminating defective instruments, disassembling and cleaning them, and replacing any faulty parts; lubricating instruments and substituting defective wiring and tubing; and maintaining loop schematics while executing startup protocols.

Required Tools/Equipment:

Employees may need to supply the following tools: toolbox, tube cutters, blade terminating screwdriver, channel lock pliers, vise grips, center punch, screwdrivers, a set of combination wrenches, adjustable wrench set, nut driver, small dikes, and rain gear.

Physical Requirements:

Employees may be required to perform the following tasks: climbing ladders, scaffolding, and structures at various heights; maintaining balance on ladders and scaffolding; reaching in multiple directions; handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating eye, hand, and finger movements to operate tools and equipment; lifting weights ranging from 30 to 50 pounds at different levels; carrying tools and equipment; standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling; and having the ability to see and hear with or without correction.

Cognitive Requirements:

Employees may need to follow established procedures and standards; apply basic mathematical skills; compare and understand differences in size, shape, and form; visualize and evaluate solid objects from drawings or diagrams; follow oral and written instructions, plans, and blueprints; possess knowledge of calibration methods, equipment, and testing tools; understand field and control room instruments, computers, and startup processes; and have the ability to read, write, and recognize safety hazards.
