Peer Recovery Specialist, START Program

Job Summary:

The Center for Great Expectations is seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist to join our team. As a Peer Recovery Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting mothers with substance use disorders and their children in the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide outreach and support to community-based organizations and potential and current outpatient clients.
  • Perform client eligibility screenings and informal peer-to-peer counseling.
  • Assist clinicians with case management services and linkages to recovery supports.
  • Implement evidence-based infant and early childhood relational health interventions, including Brazleton Touchpoints.
  • Promote the use of the Nurtured Heart Approach and Attachment, Regulation, and Competency interventions (ARC) in all outpatient activities.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • NJ Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) or National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS).
  • Individual in recovery for a minimum of three years, with a clean driving record.
  • Knowledge of the local community, cultural traditions, and community-based agencies relevant to the client population.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in reading and writing.
  • Ability to establish trusting relationships with peers.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Bilingual preferred, English/Spanish plus.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to be flexible to the daily changing needs within the community and to handle obstacles with compassion and resolve.
