Job Overview

REPORTING TO: Project Engineer

Summary:

The Automation Specialist will deliver technical expertise and diagnostic support to enhance production efficiency. This role involves analyzing maintenance and reliability data to assess historical performance and ensure seamless operational continuity.

The specialist will oversee and participate in maintenance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on experience with processing equipment, including setup of downstream systems such as leak testers, vision systems, palletizers, and other automated machinery during production changes.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with malfunctioning components, including servos, sensors, and control systems.
  • Maintain logs of equipment usage, parts replacements, and scheduled maintenance to optimize functionality.
  • Provide periodic updates to management regarding automation capabilities and operational status.
  • Dismantle defective machinery (e.g., blow molding machines) and install new or repaired components (e.g., hydraulic valves) in accordance with specifications and blueprints, utilizing precision measuring tools and hand instruments.
  • Manage control of waste, downtime, and machine utilization.
  • Identify and report potential equipment and facility issues.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures established by the organization in accordance with industry standards.

Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of automated machinery, including various sensors (photodiode, proximity, pressure, capacity, thermocouple, and all types of sensor transmitters).
  • Extensive understanding of control systems and actuators: PLCs, relays, contactors, motors, solenoid valves, and solid-state relays.
  • Ability to interpret maintenance manuals, schematics, diagrams, parts manuals, and maintenance documentation.
  • Commitment to adhering to company policies, procedures, and industry standards.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required, including emergency repairs.
  • Proficient in personal computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Education and Experience:

  • A degree in Mechatronics Engineering is advantageous but not mandatory if the candidate possesses a minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a high-volume manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with PET Stretch Blow Molding or PET Injection Stretch Blow Molding is preferred; other Injection Molding and Blow Molding experience is also valued.
  • Background in working with automated systems and machinery.
  • Experience should encompass sensors, motors (induction, single-phase, three-phase, servo), PLCs, contactors, solid-state relays, electrical troubleshooting, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Candidates should be capable of diagnosing and resolving malfunctions in manufacturing equipment.
  • Prior experience in PLC programming, vision systems, and troubleshooting/robot programming is preferred.
